Student will be the catalyst in cancer care

Children are the catalyst in a family to a greater extend and parents do not ignore their children’s interests. If the children are conscientized in their tender age, it will definitely aid to generate a better future.

Caritas India Ashakiranam cancer care campaign joined hands with Paul’s Higher Secondary School, Kozhinjampara, Sultanpet and officially launched School level Ashakiranam Cancer Care Campaign on November 22, 2017.

Students can be channelized from a minor catalyst in a single family into a greater catalyst in the society to bring forth greater changes. Students of St. Paul’s Higher Secondary School are united together for Cancer care. Areas of Palakkadu and borders of Tamilnadu is reported as the second highest in terms of Cancer incidences in Kerala, the children especially the school students in these places are collectively working towards the cancer care campaign.

Ashakiranam is the great model for Volunteerism and Cancer care the students unanimously join and raise their hands for poor cancer patients and cancer prevention with Ashakiranam.

“The language of Ashakiranam Volunteers should be the language of Heart & Love” said Most. Rev. Dr. Lumen Monteiro, Chairman of Caritas India during his inaugural address.

Sultanpet Diocese Vicar General, Fr. Madhalaimuthu said, “changes by children will transform the society, Ashakiranam student volunteers will definitely transform our villages”.

Asst. Executive Director of Caritas India, Fr. Paul Moonjely has given training to the newly registered student Ashakiranam Volunteers and shared as how school students can associate and work with Ashakiranam and Caritas India, their contribution to the campaign and create changes in the society.

Fr. Lazar Arulappan released the annual Ashakiranam action plan with the newly enrolled 300 Ashakiranam student volunteers. These volunteers will execute the theme based monthly Cancer preventive interventions like, plastic free school campus, organic school vegetable garden, awareness programs, home visits, fund collection, hair donation, rally, street play etc. As part of the launching program the volunteers took Ashakiranam Cancer awareness pledge. Now the school is set to do Ashakiranam cancer preventive activities not only in schools but also in neighboring villages and act as model volunteers for the poor cancer patients.
