Ashakiranam cancer care campaign pledging to end cancer

With a strong focus on prevention, the Ashakiranam – Cancer Care Campaign promoting healthy lifestyle by producing, conserving and consuming good food.

“Organic farming is the only way for the production of pesticide free food and prevention of cancer” shared Fr. George Vettikattil, Executive Director of KSSF during the Malabar cluster volunteers’ gathering at Sultan Bathery on April 20, 2017.

700 Volunteers from Shreyas Bathery, Wayanad Social Service Society Mananthavady, COD Thamarassery, Jeevana Calicut, TSSS Thalassery and KAIROS Kannur under Malabar Cluster participated in the programme.

Appreciating the volunteers of their commitment and their participation in the Ashakiranam, Deputy Director of Caritas India Fr. Paul Moonjely spoke about the fight against cancer.

During the event a special brochure was released on Ashakiranam by the zonal manager of Caritas India, Dr. Haridas.

With the lighting of the candle, Sr. Jeseena, Programme Officer, KSSF facilitated the pledge to strengthen their fight against cancer.

Mr. C K Sahadevan, Municipal Chairman, Sulthan Bathery inaugurated the lavender ribbon campaign along with Fr. Alfred V C, Director, Jeevana, Fr. Shyju Peter Thadikkaparambil, Assistant Director, KAIROS, Fr. Bijo Karukappalli, Director, WSSS, Mananthavady and Fr. Sunny Mukalelparambil, Director, COD Thamarassery felicitated the function.

Ms. Fousi, a cancer survivor from Sulthan Bathery shared her experience of overcoming the threat of cancer.

As part of the event, Shreyas team organised stall for organic vegetables and food products.
