Be Connected

Staying connected during disaster is fundamental to the safety and well-being of you and your family. Today as we face a global challenge in the form of a Pandemic, being connected with one another with the principles of Social Distancing to fight the virus isone of the most common preventive measures widely asked to be practiced. While we are at times where modern telecommunications networks are resilient and have generally performed well during any disaster, they are not immune to disruptions. It’s well defined that Disasters have been defined as a state in which the social fabric is disrupted and becomes dysfunctional to a greater or lesser extent causing “maximum community disruption and dislocation” (Britton, 1988, Fritz, 1961). Today we globally have been quite evident as we face this challenge as one Human Society.

The necessity of being in touch with the individuals or community in distress, collaborating with other faith organizations, local government/ institutions to care for and to amplify their response by engaging volunteers in action, are some of the various approaches of “Be-Connected” during an emergency response in which everything needs to work in synthesis. Now is the times of needing to make a choice of disengaging from one another physically but being connected mentally emotionally & psychologically to cope ourselves through this tough time.

As one human family, let us look out for one another. We need to let the information and measures be made accessible at every level so that common people stay healthy and adopt day to day preventive measures to protect themselves and be strengthened to mitigate the health emergency we are in.
