50th Episode of Development Dynamic Course concludes

50th Development Dynamic Course (DDC) concluded on 13th September 2019. The flagship program of Caritas India is designed to train the newly appointed social workers in the field of social work. The 25-day residential capacity building programme was organized for the development practitioners to develop their analytical skills to address the dynamic changes in the social development sector. This year, the training is organized by Caritas India in Canara Organization for Development & Peace (CODP) Mangaluru, Karnataka. 30 participants (21 Men and 9 women) across the country participated in this course. The curriculum of the training dealt with vital topics relevant for working for the most marganalised people. Social analysis, people led empowerment, community mobilization, resource mobilization, sustainable development goals, partnerships, campaigns, emerging trends in social sector, management of developmental organizations etc. The theoretical knowledge was concretised with enriching field visits to slums and villages. Through the field visits the participants could interact and learn more.

The program concluded on 13th September 2019 with the valedictory function. Mr. J. R. Lobo, Ex-MLA of Mangalore South Constituency, GB member of CODP, Mr. Emmanuel Monis, Regional Officer for West Region, Andheri-Hilfe Organization and Rev. Fr. Jolly, Astt. Executive Director, Caritas India graced the occasion with their presence. Participants shared their learning from the 50th edition of DDC; participants through their experience sharing expressed the joy and knowledge they gained during this DDC journey. Mr. J R Lobo shared his happiness to join the 50th edition of DDC organized in CODP, Mangaluru as he is also a GB member of CODP. He added that training is an important tool to equip a person. Trainings help individuals to enhance their knowledge, it gives opportunity for mutual learnings, exchange of ideas.

Mr. Emmanuel Monis emphasised on ‘LOVE FOR THE POOR’ is important for a good social work or community work. He also invited the participants while working in the community, to make people’s plan rather their plan. He added that plan focussing on people will be successful than organisation focussed plan. As in a people’s plan, people own more responsibility, and thus success rate will be high.

Fr. Jolly’s concluded by saying “being a member of Caritas India, I am delighted and pleased to know the DDC is very helpful and enlightened the knowledge of participants.” He reiterated that “we need to work for the poor, without expecting anything. There will be many challenges. We need to go from here as ambassadors of Christ and need to give selfless service.”

The program concluded by each participant receiving certificates for completion of the 50th Development Dynamic Course.
