In continuation to the yearly partners’ meet, the 4th Learning Cycle was organized for all CORDAID CMDRR India partners in Puri, Orissa from 15th – 20th February, 2012. The ‘learning cycle’ is a forum for Disaster Risk Reduction partners to draw learnings and challenges faced by implementers and also areas to be considered in future. With a perspective to understand new dimensions in the changing development scenario, the focus this year was on integrating "Eco-system and Climate change" facets in our existing CMDRR programs. Resource persons from Wetlands and Red Cross Climate centre introduced the concept to the gathering. The workshop also witnessed the active participation of community representatives who shared their experiences and had a chance to showcase their work. The workshop was a combination of methods mainly presentations, plenary discussions, field visits, group exercises and small group discussions.
As a lead agency towards implementing “Partners for Resilience” in Bihar, Caritas India had the opportunity to share some of its overriding experiences and challenges in the context of ecosystem and Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR).
The Learning cycle has created an excellent platform, bringing on board DRR partners across the country to liaison and take forward issues that needs collective support and backing to enhance resilience of a larger community that we work with.
